Brokerage Awards

Customer service is an important measure of any brokerage’s long-term sustainability and success. This award recognises the best brokerage office or branch that has maintained consistent and sustainable customer service standards over the past 12 months.

When judging this category, the following criteria will be considered from the individual office/branch perspective:

  • Overall customer service proposition
  • Responsiveness to changing market demands
  • Product knowledge
  • Product offering
  • Positive impact on client retention and customer satisfaction
  • The business’ value proposition and strategy around stakeholder engagement

This award recognises the best brokerage operation with 11+ staff (or full-time equivalents) in New Zealand. The number of staff includes all brokers writing business (license holders or authorised representatives) and support staff. To be eligible your brokerage must be independently branded and headquartered in New Zealand.

When judging this category, the following criteria will be considered from an overall business perspective:

  • Client retention
  • Customer service proposition
  • Financial results including total revenue, percentage of new business and growth in client and staff numbers
  • Staff development and retention
  • The business’ value proposition and strategy around stakeholder engagement

This award recognises the best brokerage operation with 1-10 staff (or full-time equivalents) in New Zealand. The number of staff includes all brokers writing business (license holders or authorised representatives) and support staff. To be eligible your brokerage must be independently branded and headquartered in New Zealand.

When judging this category, the following criteria will be considered from an overall business perspective:

  • Client retention
  • Customer service proposition
  • Financial results including total revenue, percentage of new business and growth in client and staff numbers
  • Staff development and retention
  • The business’ value proposition and strategy around stakeholder engagement

This award recognises the best broking network in New Zealand.

When judging this category, the following criteria will be considered:

  • Year over year growth
  • Effective business development and lead generation strategies
  • Development of key partnerships and relationships with brokers and insurers

This award recognises the best brokerage operation for which over 50% of its business is in one area of specialty risk.

When judging this category, the following criteria will be considered from an overall business perspective:

  • Client retention
  • Customer service proposition
  • Financial results including total revenue, percentage of new business and growth in client and staff numbers
  • Staff development and retention
  • The business’ value proposition and strategy around stakeholder engagement

Broker Awards

This award recognises the best broker working in an independent brokerage operation.

When judging this category, the following criteria will be considered:

  • Client retention
  • Customer service proposition
  • Lead generation
  • Contribution to the overall business
  • Relevant financial results including number of policies written, number of clients and total revenue (fees) generated
  • Contribution to the insurance intermediary channel

This award recognises the best broker working in an international brokerage operation.

When judging this category, the following criteria will be considered:

  • Client retention
  • Customer service proposition
  • Lead generation
  • Contribution to the overall business
  • Relevant financial results including number of policies written, number of clients and total revenue (fees) generated
  • Contribution to the insurance intermediary channel

This award recognises the best broker for who over 50% of business is derived from one area of specialty risk.

When judging this category, the following criteria will be considered:

  • Client retention
  • Customer service proposition
  • Lead generation
  • Contribution to the overall business
  • Relevant financial results including number of policies written, number of clients and total revenue (fees) generated
  • Contribution to the insurance intermediary channel

This award recognises the best broker who is under 35 working for an independent brokerage operation.

When judging this category, the following criteria will be considered:

  • Demonstrated career progression and professional development
  • Contribution to the nominee’s business
  • Relevant financial results including number of policies written, number of clients and total revenue (fees) generated
  • Overall customer service

This award recognises the best broker who is under 35 working for an international brokerage with at least one office outside of New Zealand.

When judging this category, the following criteria will be considered:

  • Demonstrated career progression and professional development
  • Contribution to the nominee’s business
  • Relevant financial results including number of policies written, number of clients and total revenue (fees) generated
  • Overall customer service

Insurer Awards

This award recognises the best general insurer/underwriting agency that has harnessed digital channels to provide brokers with practical, effective and easily accessible facilities to help them with their business.

When judging this category, the following criteria will be considered:

  • The business’ key objectives behind the digital platforms
  • How your business uses digital platforms to acquire, connect, interact and retain customers
  • Features and quality of content e.g. product information, broker resources

This award recognises the best service provider within the insurance sector operating in New Zealand. Considerable weight will be placed on nominations that come directly from the broking community. Eligible service providers include but are not limited to software and technology, legal, compliance, training and education.

When judging this category, the following criteria will be considered:

  • Overall customer service proposition/point of difference
  • Industry’s need for the service
  • How the service has added value and overall commitment of the organisation to its customers
  • Demonstrated commitment to innovation and continuous improvement

This award recognises the best BDM working for a general insurer operating in New Zealand. Considerable weight will be placed on nominations that come directly from the broking community.

When judging this category, the following criteria will be considered:

  • The BDM’s accessibility and communication with broker clients
  • Demonstrated understanding of brokers’ businesses
  • Product knowledge
  • How the nominee adds value to the brand he/she represents and to the insurance intermediary channel

This award recognises the best claims team within a General Insurer or Underwriting Agency in New Zealand.

When judging this category, the following criteria will be considered:

  • Business achievements in the insurance intermediary channel including but not limited to coverage, service levels and turnaround times (claims and new business)
  • Year over year growth and market share in the general insurance industry
  • Service innovations including but not limited to technology, broker communications, training and development
  • Overall support of and contribution to the insurance intermediary channel
  • Demonstration of positive impact on the wider community

This award recognises the best general insurer operating in New Zealand.

When judging this category, the following criteria will be considered:

  • Business achievements in the insurance intermediary channel including but not limited to service levels, turnaround times (claims and new business), product ranges
  • Year over year growth and market share in the general insurance industry
  • Service innovations including but not limited to technology, broker communications, training and development
  • Overall support of and contribution to the insurance intermediary channel
  • Demonstration of positive impact on the wider community

This award recognises the best underwriting agency operating in New Zealand.

When judging this category, the following criteria will be considered:

  • Business achievements in the insurance intermediary channel including but not limited to coverage, service levels and turnaround times (claims and new business)
  • Year over year growth and market share in the general insurance industry
  • Service innovations including but not limited to technology, broker communications, training and development
  • Overall support of and contribution to the insurance intermediary channel
  • Demonstration of positive impact on the wider community

This award recognises the best BDM working for an underwriting agency operating in New Zealand. Considerable weight will be placed on nominations that come directly from the broking community.
